Rule #3: Always be shipping.

Each mission I complete should result in something tangible and real getting pushed out into the world.

I have a tendency to want things to be “just so” before I’m comfortable sharing. Gotta get over that. Working in obscurity is, frankly, just not as much fun as working with and alongside others. And if no one knows it exists it is so much easier to do stupid things like redo the architecture or rewrite it in «shiny new language» or give up on it.

This rule requires me to decide, up front, what I’m shipping and to stick to it. So I always know what I’m working towards, which is nice, and how it fits into the big picture, which is also nice. And then there’s that fun little endorphin rush when it does get delivered, which also is also nice.

I still tend to oversize the deliverables, but I’m gradually getting better with practice. Making myself think it through before I dive into it helps.

Since starting this little endeavor in Aug 2026, I’ve shipped:

  1. A decision to return to making for myself
  2. This website you’re reading right now
  3. Ree, a little Markdown-to-static website builder
